Project Life 25 {Week 6}

Happy National Camera Day!

I didn't know about today until this morning, but now I'm super excited!

I had a ton of loose leaf hanging around the house. A few years ago, I got 25 packs for 25¢. I was so excited! Now I have a lot of loose leaf paper hanging around. So I used it for my layout for Week 6.

Top Row: Dinner at an out door pop up restaurant (I accidentally printed that it was on Thursday, and AJ corrected me that it was Friday...so I improvised with a sticker!) - Yummy french fries! Mmmm, I want some of those now!
Middle Row: Taking a walk during the heat wave - AJ coming to meet me after his run (during which I totally walked and took pictures!)
Bottom Row: Drinking tea on the roof. - Going to the Farmers Market. - Drinking vanilla coke

We have a very busy weekend! Tonight, AJ's friend from school is going to be in Chicago to visit his family, but will be staying with us this evening so they guys can hang out. Then Sunday, a family friend will be in town with his wife and daughter, and AJ and I will be going to a Cubs game with him and his wife. Fortunately, all of the visitors mean that we cleaned the apartment top to bottom last night! I love when it is so incredibly clean! Now we just have to keep it this way for when my parents come to visit next week :)

What are your plans for this weekend?

Glitter and Transparencies Summer List Layout

So yesterday, just for funsies, my computer decided to do this!

 Which may have been a good thing, because now today it is running much much better!

And that is awesome, because I wanted to share this page with you today (well, yesterday, but yesterday my computer wasn't having any of that!)

I created this fun title for this page a few weeks ago, and I knew that I wanted to use it for my summer list. I typed up my list on Photoshop using my new font in my handwriting, then I used my new Bamboo Craft tablet to draw in the little banners around each item. The white paper I used here wasn't exactly "white" and I didn't have another sheet that matched it to print on, so I just printed on a transparency and cut everything out! I love how the list items are shiny from the transparency because it made them pop!

Throughout the summer, I've been taking pictures of everything I've done from the list, and I'm going to add them to divided pages that will go next to this page in my scrapbook. I'm so excited about this project!

I can't believe it is Thursday already! (The week probably feels like it went by so fast because I missed yesterday!) AJ and I went to all the Mets vs. Cubs games at Wrigley Field this week. It was really fun, and I'm excited to include it in my project life page and create a layout about it :)

When you are doing Project Life, do you still create additional layouts for really special things, or do you feature everything in your Project Life pages?

St. Lucia Vacation Album {Part 11}

Yeaaaah, I'm burnt! All my own fault though, it was cold, so I didn't feel that I was burning, so I didn't wear sunscreen. I even said while we were out there, Oh, I'm not wearing sunscreen, because I haven't been able to get tan. So so dumb of me! I feel very stupid, because I know this is not healthy! And of course, I freaked out that I'm going to get all wrinkley when I'm older (don't know why with this burn and not the other 800 sun burns I've had in my life!)

But, it is what it is, and I'm keep the aloe companies in business :)

Look! I was burned in this layout too!

For the day we left vacation, I just made a one page layout.

Tonight AJ and I are going to the Mets game again (at Wrigley). I'm hoping they don't get blown out 6-1 again tonight, that wasn't fun for me! I love summer though, because we can do such special things on a week day night! Do you do anything fun during the week in the summer that you wouldn't normally do?

St. Lucia Vacation Album {Parts 9-10}

Happy Monday! I'm so so glad my computer is working again!

Saturday night we were listening to music and my computer started making really odd noises and then shut down! Fortunately, I had scheduled my blog post for Sunday, and I'd managed to link up to Ashley's blog through my phone, but I didn't get to answer all my emails or anything like I wanted!

Yesterday didn't go exactly as planned either. AJ's root canal did something weird and his face got all blown up, so I went to church alone. But I was too shy to go to the brunch alone, so I didn't go there!

I'm heading off to the beach today. Hopefully I come home tan and not burnt! But we will see :)

And then tonight we're headed out for the Mets-Cubs game. I'm so excited, I haven't seen the Mets since opening day of last year because I was here, and they were not!

I'm almost at the end of my St. Lucia vacation album. These are the pictures from our last full day.

Hanging out by the pool, drinking blue drinks :)

Playing pool, eating dinner and smoking Cuban cigars (well, AJ was smoking cigars, I was drinking champagne!)

Well, that's it for me today! I'll be back tomorrow with the last vacation layout. Then, I'll be sharing some new things :)

Scavenger Hunt Sunday {6 24 2012}

Scavenger Hunt Sunday
I love how quiet this weekend was! Yesterday, AJ went golfing, and I went to the farmer's market. Then, I read and relaxed and just didn't do a thing!

That was a huge change from Friday, when I decided to move all the furniture in the bedroom! When we first moved, I was afraid to put the bed too close to the window, because I don't love being high up. But now I'm really used to it, so I moved the bed over to the window, because when it was far away, all we could see is the building next door. Now we can see the lake! I'm glad we will get to enjoy the nice view for the next few months (until we move again!)

This morning, we are going to a new parishioner mass at our church, and there is a little brunch after. I'm excited, because I've never been to something like that before!

But, before we go, its time for Scavenger Hunt Sunday!

Warped
I love the trees in Lincoln Park. They sprayed a bunch of them different colors, and this one is all bendy and warped.

Concentric Circles
I had trouble finding concentric circles. Until I went to my favorite frozen yogurt place on Wednesday. This is their awning.Their frozen yogurt is so so yummy, my favorite is the peanut butter chocolate swirl. It tastes exactly like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup!

Gear
AJ asked me to bring him home a frozen yogurt, from a mile away, when I was walking, in the middle of the heat wave! That definitely required some gear - I packed up my lunch box full of ice packs and a frozen gatorade bottle. But the frozen yogurt made it home in tact!

Glazed
We went to a pop up restaurant on Friday night. The fries came with this amazing dippy-glazey-I'm-not-sure-what-it-was-but-it-was-so-good dip. Yep, that's the official name for it.

Marble
I always pass this statue when I walk in Lincoln Park, and we even took some of our engagement photos here. But I never look at it from below. I'm not sure if its marble, but its some kind of rock.

Well, we are off to church and brunch. I hope you are having a great weekend!

Project Life 25 {Week 5}

I'm running a little late this morning! But that's okay, because its summer!

Its Friday, so I'm sharing my Project Life pages from last week. I'm not sure what was going on with me last week, but I totally forgot to take pictures!

Center Row: 1. The view from our apartment, in real life, this picture actually shows really bright pink streaks across the sky! 2. A huge Dunkin Donuts 3. Summer 2012 4. The cover of our book club book
Bottom Row: 1. A cell phone picture of the sky, threatening to rain just as I started walking to the train station! 2. A really huge slice of pizza. Its actually bigger than my head. But I still ate the whole thing ;)

I've never used this page style before. I wasn't really sure what to do with the 4 6x6 slots, but, I didn't have any pictures, so I thought it would work!

Things will probably be different next week, since I took tons of pictures! I'm not sure what I am going to do with all of them!

Well, I'm going to go do some more chores, then AJ and I are going out for appetizers tonight. There is a Mexican place near us and we love their margaritas, and their appetizers and guacamole, but not the actually dinners! So we figured we'd go out for our own little "happy hour" but then have dinner at home! The rest of the weekend is going to be really relaxing. We don't have any plans (except AJ's golfing, but that's not news!). I'm so excited to do nothing all weekend long! Do you have any plans this weekend?

St. Lucia Vacation Album {Parts 5-8}

AJ has the day off, which never ever happens during the week! But because of his crazy work schedule yesterday, he is off today. Fortunately, the heat wave is supposed to break, unfortunately, that means rain all day, so no beach for us. Instead, we are going to do laundry, work out, clean and get lunch!

I'm hoping once we are done cleaning, I can scrapbook a little too!

But, until I can get some layouts done, I still have more from my vacation album to share!

These are the pictures from our second full day of vacation. This was our catamaran ride, and I actually made four layouts!

 This is the boat and the scenery we saw on our ride to Soufriere.

I love this map of the whole island. We stayed in Castries (just to the left of where the papers split), but we visited Soufriere (in the middle of the right page!)

These are all the places we visited in Soufriere. We went to a waterfall, a botanical garden and a volcano. Then we went snorkeling. I didn't get any pictures of that, because I was underwater, but I did get a picture of the gear!

After snorkeling, the dancing and drinking began! The right side of the layout shows what we did when we got back to the resort - enjoyed a cocktail and had dinner at the Pier Restaurant!

Well, that's all for me today! I'm off to do some laundry. I don't mind doing laundry, its the folding and putting away part I can't stand! Is there any chore you just hate to do?

St. Lucia Vacation Album {Parts 3-4}

Last week I shared Part 1 and Part 2 of our St. Lucia vacation album, so today I thought I'd share Parts 3 and 4!

These are pictures from our first full day of vacation. Like I said before, I really love this kit. It was so easy to put together the pages, and I was able to include so many pictures!

This week turned out to be even crazier than expected! AJ was supposed to be working nights, but there was a last minute schedule change (like so last minute he was already at work Sunday night when he found out and had to come back home!). So he worked days the past two days, went in this morning at 3am, will be home around 9am, but has to go back tonight at 7am and won't be home until 3am!

Unfortunately, when AJ left for work at 3:30am, I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep! I'm hoping I can fall asleep now for a few hours!

Do you ever do that? Wake up way way too early and just can't fall back asleep! Its so frustrating!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday {6 19 2012}

Scavenger Hunt SundayThis week's prompts were hard! I struggled with finding some of the, but I think I'm happy with what I came up with!

Meet Me at the Corner

Mother Nature Meets Technology
The have these grates around all of the trees near our apartment. But the ivy (is that ivy?) still manages to grow around it!

One Step at a Time
Going for a before dinner walk. It was going to be a before dinner run, but in this heat wave, we're taking it one step at a time!

What's Wrong with this Picture?
I walk by this sign every day, but just noticed it yesterday because of the scavenger hunt!

Standing Tall
Summer shadows are really tall, even if this one is making me look extra hippy (and not the fun bohemian kind, the omg, that girl's hips are huge why is she outside in shorts kind!)

Ombre Glitter Scrapbook Title Tutorial

Ombre has been everywhere lately, in nail polish, on cupcakes, in denim skirts, I could go on and on and on...So of course I thought it would be perfect for my summer list scrapbook page title!

Supplies:

Martha Stewart Glitter Lapis (blue)
Martha Stewart Glitter Peridot (green)
Martha Stewart Glitter Tourmaline (pink)
Martha Stewart Glitter Fire Opal (orange)
Modge Podge
Xyron Create a Sticker with Repositionable Adhesive
Foam Brushes
Extra Card Stock for Stencil

Directions:

To create the stencil, I used my eclips to cut out the word "summer" on a piece of card stock. I ran the negative of the image through my Xyron Create a Sticker that was loaded with repositionable adhesive. Then I stuck it down where I wanted my title to appear on my page.

Today is the first Monday of summer (well, for me at least!) AJ is working nights this week, so we stayed up super late every night this weekend so he could stay up all night for work. But that means my sleep cycle is all messed up! How was your weekend?

Project Life 25 {Week 4}

Happy Friday everyone!

So, just like I said last week, I'm sharing my Project Life page on Friday! Of course, last week, I was totally on top of my stuff and had my page done by Tuesday. This week I was running to Wal-greens last night for pictures and printing up my journaling this morning. But I was able to get everything done!

I "made" my own patterened paper to put my journaling on here. I just made a repeating pattern on Photoshop, then added a lighter background and typed away. I like the little pop of color, but you can still read all of the writing!

I was a little upset when I got my pictures and discovered the images had been cropped different than I'd intended and the journaling on the car picture is all messed up! I'm going to have it re-printed at Target, because I don't have that issue there, but I apparently do have it at Wal-greens!

Well, that's it for me this week! Do you have any fun plans for this weekend? We are having our book club Saturday night, and I'm making slutty brownies! I'm so so excited, I haven't had them since the first time we made them - not because they aren't yummy (oh they are so so yummy!), but because they are so so not good for you! So I'm going to yoga today to combat the yummy chocolate chip oreo brownies!

Welcome Summer

Its finally summer. This year, I get exactly 8 weeks (totally different from the 10 I'd get in New York!)

Last year, I had a rough summer. I was searching for a job, away from my family for the first time and trying to navigate the changes in my relationship with AJ in going from long distance to living together. This year, I have a job, I have a great circle of friends here in Chicago and AJ and I are developing a stronger relationship every day.

With everything else in place, I'm planning on taking full advantage of our last summer in Chicago and our last summer of being just a 5 minute walk from the beach!

Ali Edwards wrote a summer manifesto a few weeks ago, and in it, she mentioned a summer list.

This year, I'm making my own summer list. Each of these things is something I can actually do, that won't cost any money, so there is no reason for me not to do them! And, it will help me fill up my days while everyone else is at work, so I don't get bored!

Eat lunch on the beach, with a coke from a can
Go to restore yoga
Bike the lakefront trail
Have my morning tea on the roof
Read
Get a tan
Get a library card in Chicago
Clean and reorganize the bedroom
Make homemade ice pops
Scrapbook
Go to the farmer's market
Take pictures
Finish the blue and white blanket
Hang out by the pool in Cutchogue
Drink a vanilla coke

I'm sure I will think of things to add to the list as the summer goes on. But right now, on the first day of summer, it seems absolutely perfect :)

St. Lucia Vacation Album {Part 2}

Yay for Wednesday! Technically, it is my last day of school, although I will be in for a very very short time tomorrow (read: 2 hours) for a presentation. But this is my last working day!

Yesterday, I shared Part 1 of my St. Lucia vacation album. So today I thought I'd share Part 2! Yay! Please excuse the extreme excitement that comes with summer break being so close I can almost taste it. If you are wondering, it tastes like pink lemonade, vanilla coke, goldfish and peanut butter and jelly on the beach.

 Our first day, explore the resort and enjoying the pools.

Our first night at dinner, playing pool (which I am not good at) and relaxing by the pool listening to a local musician play!

Okay, so I'm going to get a grip and calm down now, because as close as summer is, I still have to work today! Have a wonderful Wednesday! I will be back tomorrow with a fun post and Friday I'm going to share more Project Life!
